The Kerala State Disaster Management Plan 2016, National Disaster Management Policy 2009, State Disaster Management Policy 2010, National Disaster Management Plan 2016, NDMA, SDMA, and several other relevant plans and guidelines for disaster risk reduction issued by various countries. Government Ministries. The plan is prepared after carefully customizing the Sendai Framework (2015-30) to the local conditions of Kerala. Comprising ten chapters, it analyses Kerala’s vulnerability, disaster preparedness and mitigation. It outlines guidelines for mainstreaming risk reduction, discussing the responsibilities of various stakeholders, response, relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction procedures. It also explores the financial arrangements for disaster risk reduction efforts, provides a critical analysis of the past use of funds for preparedness and response, and offers an approach to ensure training and updating on the plan.
