Public Awareness Committee
In order to provide leadership at the local level for human-wildlife conflict mitigation activities, ensure the representation of various departments and voluntary organizations, and bring about effective coordination, thereby delivering excellent services to the people, Jana Jagratha Samiti has been formed under the chairmanship of the Presidents or Chairpersons of the Local Self-Government Institutions. Due to various reasons such as climate change and habitat degradation, the presence of wild animals in populated areas has increased. These committees are working to manage sudden wild animal attacks more effectively.
The composition of the Janajagrata Samiti, as reconstituted as per G.O. (Rt.) No. 104/2025/Forest, dated 12-03-2025
- President (Chairman) of the local self-government body
- Vice President of the local self-governing body
- District Panchayat Member
- Block Panchayat Member
- Regarding Forest Department Officer (Range Officer / Deputy Range Officer) (Convenor)
- Tehsildar / Village Officer
- Local Agriculture Officer or an officer of the Agriculture Department nominated by him
- Local Veterinary Doctor or an officer of the Animal Welfare Department nominated by him
- Local Village Development Officer or an officer of the Block Development Department nominated by him
- Local Police Sub-Inspector or a police officer nominated by him
- A health worker nominated by a doctor from the relevant health center in the area
- Ward Councilor/Member
- The Tribal Forest Officer in charge of the area
- President of Forest Conservation Committee / Eco-Development Committee
- 3 farmers from the respective region nominated by forest department officials
- A member from recognized voluntary organizations who proposes the name of the convener
